Ekyog garments laundry advice
Choosing an eco-made garment is a significant gesture in favour of the environment.

However, about 50% of environmental impacts result from its laundry.
ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency)

Simple habits make it possible to reduce this ecological imprint while preserving the beauty of clothes on a long-term basis.
Some simple ways to preserve the environment and your garments

▪ Ideally acquire an A-rated washing machine recognised by the European Eco-Label, to reduce energy and water consumption.

▪ Wash full loads

▪ Wash at low temperatures to limit energy consumption and preserve your clothes.

▪ Prefer short wash programmes when linen is not very dirty.

▪ To preserve rivers and ground water, dose a right quantity of detergent or use soap nuts associated to stain-removing salts.

▪ Replace fabric softeners by some drops of essential oils (ylang-ylang, lavender, orange etc.) placed on a cloth.

▪ Instead of using stain remover, you can apply Aleppo soap on stains before placing the garment into the machine.

▪ Avoid dry cleaning which requires very toxic solvents.

▪ As much as possible, limit tumble-drying which consumes a lot of energy.

▪ Iron clothes on the wrong side and still lightly damp to limit the need for steam and avoid lustring.

▪ To adapt laundry to the specificities of each garment, consult the composition label on the wrong side of the garment.

▪ Recycle clothes by giving them to a relative or to an association.
